Want a jetpack over Los Santos, a Rhino tank in the middle of the street or the $250,000 from the famous HESOYAM? Pick your platform in the selector below and the list adapts (a code to type on PC and mobile, or a button combination on a controller). Just like in GTA III and Vice City, cheats are entered during gameplay, never from a menu, and a “Cheat Activated” message confirms each one.

The king of all San Andreas codes is HESOYAM. Unlike GTA III, Vice City and even GTA 5, San Andreas is the only 3D-era entry where a code hands you money: full health, full armor and $250,000 at once, plus a repair of whatever car you’re sitting in. Re-enter it as often as you like to pile up the cash. One catch, though: triggering it during certain scripted missions, like the motorcycle chase in Just Business, destroys the vehicle and fails the mission.

When it comes to the garage and pure chaos, San Andreas is a genuine playground. ROCKETMAN pulls out the jetpack, the game’s most iconic image, AIYPWZQP gives you a parachute (perfect for leaping off Mount Chiliad), JUMPJET spawns the Hydra jet and OHDUDE the Hunter attack chopper. For the road, RIPAZHA makes cars fly like planes and SPEEDFREAK slaps nitro on all traffic. Most vehicle codes also exist as controller combinations, aside from a few console exclusives like cars that drive on water.

Beyond the garage, San Andreas lets you mess with the street itself. SJMAHPE enlists any passerby into your gang, a 9mm pistol in hand, while BIFBUZZ flips the whole map into permanent gang-war mode. YLTEICZ makes traffic aggressive, other drivers ram straight into you, and FLYINGFISH sends boats soaring like planes. Two bonus letter codes, also available as controller combinations: ZEIIVG turns every traffic light green and ZSOXFSQ arms your recruits with a rocket launcher instead of a pistol. A big catch with recruitment: bring a Ballas or Vagos member into your crew, start a gang war, and your own recruits immediately turn on you.

How San Andreas Cheats Work

Released October 26, 2004 on PlayStation 2, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas reuses the RenderWare engine and the cheat grammar of GTA III and Vice City: you type a string of keys mid-game and the game compares a hash of the code against an internal table. That’s why on PC several misspelled combinations, or even plain movement keys, can trigger an effect through a hash collision. Rockstar never published these codes: the “clean” versions like HESOYAM and AEZAKMI were dug out of the 2013 Android port, then became the standard.

In 2026, you mostly play San Andreas through GTA: The Trilogy The Definitive Edition, released November 11, 2021 on PS5, PS4, Xbox, Nintendo Switch and PC, then on mobile via Netflix on December 14, 2023. The classic codes carry over, and the edition even adds a few brand-new cheats. As everywhere in the series, cheating disables achievements for your session.

Cheat Codes: Our Expert Tips

Three habits to enjoy the codes without wrecking your game. First, save to a separate slot before your first cheat: hostile-pedestrian effects and mission bugs are unforgiving. Second, keep in mind that no code sabotages the story as long as you play clean alongside it, so save HESOYAM for the rough patches rather than the whole campaign. Finally, if you’re going for 100 percent or the Definitive Edition achievements, run the story without cheats and keep a “sandbox” save for the jetpack and the tank.

Hunting for cheats in the other entries? Our guide to GTA 5 cheat codes covers the modern chapter, while the one on GTA Vice City cheat codes rounds out the 3D-era trio. FAQ

What is the money cheat in GTA San Andreas?

It's HESOYAM. It restores all your health, all your armor and gives you $250,000 at once, repairs whatever vehicle you're sitting in and bumps up your criminal rating. San Andreas is actually the only 3D-era GTA to hand you cash through a code. GTA III and Vice City have no money cheat whatsoever. There's no dedicated money cheat here either: you simply re-enter HESOYAM as many times as you need to stack up the bills.

How do you enter a cheat on PS2, PS4, PS5 or Xbox?

There's no keyboard: you enter a button combination during gameplay, fairly quickly, without pausing. For example, the jetpack (ROCKETMAN) is Left, Right, L1, L2, R1, R2, Up, Down, Left, Right on PlayStation. The “Cheat Activated” message on screen confirms it worked.

Why do several different codes work on PC?

On PC, the game recognizes a hash of the code rather than the exact string of letters. Thanks to hash collisions, several combinations (sometimes even just tapping movement keys) trigger the same effect. The “official” codes like HESOYAM and AEZAKMI were never handed out by Rockstar: they were dug out of the 2013 Android port, then adopted by everyone.

Do cheat codes disable achievements?

On the 2004 PlayStation 2 version, there were no trophies or achievements at all. In GTA: The Trilogy The Definitive Edition (2021, on PS5, PS4, Xbox, Switch, PC and mobile), using a code disables achievements for that session. The safe rule is the same everywhere: cheat on a separate save if you're going for 100 percent.

Do cheats get saved with your game?

Most turn off the moment you reload your game. But the ones that change pedestrian behavior (hostility, rioting) stay active if you save while they're running, and can make some story missions impossible. When in doubt, reload a clean save.

Is there a code to recruit a gang in GTA San Andreas?

Yes. SJMAHPE lets you recruit any passerby into your gang with a pistol, and ZSOXFSQ does the same but arms your recruits with a rocket launcher. You aim at an NPC and a button enlists them. Watch out for the catch: if you recruit a Ballas or Vagos member and then start a gang war, those recruits immediately turn on you.

Can you undo a code you've already activated?

Most codes are undone by entering them a second time (weather, super jump, traffic, slow-motion). Vehicle and money codes don't “turn off,” they just trigger a one-time effect. Only the hostile-pedestrian and riot codes are a problem: if they've been saved with your game, the only clean fix is to reload an earlier save.
