Every GTA 5 cheat code

On the phone: pull out the character's cell, open the keypad (Contacts, then the call icon) and dial the number as-is, including the 1-999, then place the call.
On the controller: enter the button combination during gameplay, fairly quickly, and not while in a menu.

On PC: open the console with the ~ key (² on a French AZERTY keyboard), type the keyword in uppercase, then press Enter.
Depending on your platform, there are three methods (all single-player only):
Phone (the easiest, on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series and PC): pull out the character’s phone, open the keypad, dial the number, then call.
Controller (every console, including the original PS3 and Xbox 360 versions): enter the button combination mid-game.
PC: open the console with the ~ key (or ² on a French AZERTY keyboard), type the keyword in uppercase, then confirm with Enter.
The effects are one-time: they don’t save, and often have to be re-entered. Invincibility, for example, only lasts 5 minutes.

The phone method doesn’t exist on the very first PS3 and Xbox 360 versions: there, only the controller combo works. On PC, keyboard entry goes through the command console, but a connected controller also accepts the combos.
Do the cheats work on PS5, Xbox Series and the Enhanced version?
Yes, without the slightest difference. Cheats live in Story Mode, which is identical from one version to the next. Whether you’re playing the original 2013 edition, the version optimized for PS5 and Xbox Series, or the Enhanced upgrade that landed free on PC on March 4, 2025 (ray tracing, DLSS/FSR, faster loading), the same phone numbers, controller combos and PC keywords respond exactly the same way.
Two practical caveats. On newer consoles, the phone is still the simplest and most reliable method. And Enhanced doesn’t add any cheats: the upgrade touches the visuals and online content (Hao’s Special Works vehicles, GTA+), not single-player cheating, which stays modeled on the list above. The one unbreakable rule doesn’t change either: nothing works in GTA Online.

Why there’s no money cheat
It’s the question that comes up most, and the answer is clear: no money cheat exists, not in single-player and not online. The choice is deliberate. In Story Mode, Rockstar built an entire system around earning money legitimately: Michael, Franklin and Trevor’s heists pay out seven-figure scores, and the stock market (the BAWSAQ and LCN indexes) lets you multiply your fortune by speculating, especially after Lester’s assassination missions. A money cheat would have drained that whole system of its meaning.

On the GTA Online side, the stakes are economic: money is the engine of the live-service game, and injecting it through cheats would throw off the balance and the microtransaction market. That’s why cheating there is hunted down and banned.
Cheats and trophies: the rule to know before you cheat
The classic beginner’s trap. Activating a cheat disables achievements and trophies for the current play session. Worse, triggering a cheat during a mission can lock its completion score below 100%.
The good news: this block is not permanent and doesn’t damage your save. Just reload a save made before you used the cheat to get back the ability to unlock trophies and achievements. So the clean method fits in one sentence: save to a separate slot, go wild with the cheats, then reload your clean game whenever you want to make real progress.
A GTA tradition since 2001
Cheat codes aren’t a recent gimmick: they’re part of the series’ DNA. As far back as GTA III in 2001, you activated them with button combinations entered mid-game. Vice City, and then especially San Andreas, burned iconic sequences into players’ memories, from the jetpack to flying vehicles. So the real novelty in GTA 5 isn’t the concept, but the method: dialing a number on the character’s phone, an idea that arrived with the PS4, Xbox One and PC versions.

What about GTA 6?
GTA VI launches on November 19, 2026, and the cheat question is already coming up. Rockstar hasn’t said anything about it. Two signals, though: cheating has been part of the series’ DNA since GTA III, and GTA 5’s flagship method, dialing a number on the character’s phone, fits perfectly with the ever-present smartphone glimpsed in the Vice City footage. The real unknown is the same as in 2013: how much room is left for single-player cheating will depend on how big the online mode gets. No. Rockstar never included a money cheat, not in Story Mode and not in GTA Online. It's a deliberate choice: the three protagonists build their fortunes through heists and the stock market (BAWSAQ/LCN), not a cheat. In Online, handing out money would break the economy and get you banned.
Do cheat codes work in GTA Online?
No, none of them. Cheats only work in single-player Story Mode. GTA Online runs on Rockstar's servers with anti-cheat protection: any tampering is punished, up to a permanent account ban.
Does using a cheat block my trophies and achievements?
Yes, but only for the current session. Activating a cheat disables trophies and achievements until you reload a save made before you cheated. The workaround: save before you cheat, have your fun, then reload your clean save.
How do I enter a cheat on PS5, PS4 or Xbox?
The easiest way is the phone: pull it out, go to the keypad and dial the cheat's number (for example 1-999-724-654-5537 for invincibility). Otherwise, you can input the matching controller button combo during gameplay.
