GTA+ is the paid membership for GTA Online: $7.99 a month for 500,000 GTA$ deposited automatically, a free vehicle every month, access to the Vinewood Club and a library of Rockstar classics. In June 2026, the GTA 5 Story Mode just joined that catalog. Which leaves the real question: is it worth it?
Launched in March 2022, GTA+ long had a bad reputation: paying a subscription for a game that already made its money back and is packed with microtransactions just didn’t sit right. Four years later, the offer has filled out considerably and the math is worth running again, especially a few months out from GTA 6 and its upcoming online mode.
What is GTA+ and how much does it cost?
GTA+ is a monthly membership limited to the enhanced versions of GTA Online: PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and, since March 2025, PC. If you’re still playing on PS4 or Xbox One, the offer doesn’t apply to you. The price is $7.99 a month, with automatic renewal and the freedom to cancel anytime.
That price isn’t trivial. At launch, GTA+ cost $5.99; Rockstar pushed it up to $7.99 on April 11, 2024, a 33% hike that sparked an uproar among subscribers. For perspective, that’s roughly the cost of a PlayStation Plus Essential plan, but for a single game. So the whole question is whether the perks keep up.
What you get every month
The foundation of the membership rests on three genuinely useful pillars. First, 500,000 GTA$ deposited automatically into your Maze Bank account at each billing cycle. Next, a vehicle to claim for free every month at the Vinewood Car Club showroom, plus a rotating selection of discounted rides. Finally, a set of permanent perks that often get overlooked: CEO and VIP abilities at no cost, shorter wait times, free taxis and a mobile weapons workshop always marked on the map.
On paper, half a million a month sounds impressive. In practice, GTA Online’s economy has ballooned so much over thirteen years that it needs some perspective: a supercar tops a million, and some luxury apartments run into the tens of millions. The GTA+ bonus speeds things up, it doesn’t turn a beginner into a billionaire. To build a real fortune, you’re better off mastering the right activities, as we lay out in our guide to making money in GTA Online.
| GTA+ perk | What it’s really worth |
|---|---|
| 500,000 GTA$ a month | Comfortable, but modest next to in-game prices |
| Monthly free vehicle | The best item: a pricey car for free |
| 100-car garage + workshop | Huge for collectors |
| Game library | Real value since GTA 5 was added |
| Permanent perks | Quiet but real day-to-day convenience |
The Vinewood Club: a 100-car garage and workshop
This is the most tangible draw for an established player. The membership unlocks the Vinewood Club garage in the heart of Los Santos, with 100 vehicle spaces spread across five floors and its own workshop. That workshop gives you access to Hao’s Special Works upgrades, Benny’s conversions and drift tuning, all in one place. For a collector, that storage capacity alone is worth a good chunk of the dues.
On top of that, the Vinewood Club app on the in-game phone centralizes employee management, collecting your business earnings and vehicle requests. Pure convenience, but it saves a ton of time when you’re juggling several businesses.
The game library: GTA 5 and the Rockstar classics
This is the biggest change of 2026. The GTA+ library lets you download and play a rotating selection of Rockstar classics for as long as they’re listed: Red Dead Redemption, Bully, L.A. Noire and the Trilogy Definitive Edition bundling GTA III, Vice City and San Andreas. Plenty to dig into from the best of the catalog, as in our roundup of the best Rockstar games beyond GTA.
Above all, since June 2026, the GTA 5 Story Mode has joined this library. Members can now (re)play the campaign of Michael, Franklin and Trevor without owning the game separately, and carry their progress over to the PS5, Xbox Series and PC versions.
So, is GTA+ worth it?
It all comes down to your profile. If you fire up GTA Online several times a week, collect vehicles and plan to make use of the game library, the bill pays for itself fast: the free monthly car alone is often worth more than the $7.99. On the flip side, for a casual player or a newcomer, the membership stays a skippable perk: nothing here is needed to progress, and the monthly cash doesn’t change the game. If you’re just starting out, hold onto your money and follow our guide to getting started in GTA Online.
That leaves the most intriguing angle: Rockstar folded GTA 5 into a paid membership a few months before GTA 6 launches. It’s hard not to read that as a real-world test of the model. If the experiment lands, the next game’s online ecosystem could well be built around a similar plan. All the more reason to understand how GTA+ works right now, before GTA Online hands the baton to GTA 6.
